Mary Louise is a printmaker, a Fellow of the Royal
Society of Printmakers, painter, and public artist.
Imagination, creativity, and design sense are central to
her work. This allows her to branch into many areas. Recently,
Greece has become a focus for her work helped by two Greek
Government scholarships, and she has shown at the Jill Yakas
Gallery,
Athens,
and the Hellenic Centre,
London
and in 2006 at the William James Gallery, Athens,
where her
work was reviewed in the National press. In October ’06 she had a
retrospective of her work in Printmaking at the Technohoros Gallery
Athens,
the gallery of the Greek Printmakers Association. Here she launched
her new work The Cyclops Series an artists book in the form of
images from her imagination based on Homer’s Odyssey. |

Some of Mary's work is conceptual in the true sense as in "Mozambique", where she extends the real event of people living in trees during the floods to make a comment on the basic human need to survive. Her motivation has consistently been social, with a recent developing passion for landscape. Her continuing figurative work has now turned to the field of sport, aerobics where she finds room for the expression of her quirky individual view of this human endeavour. She was born in New York, trained at the Slade School, London, and now lives in Scotland.

Mary Louise runs a Public Art practice called COULOURIS ART AND DESIGN. Creativity, imagination and design sense are key concepts, which have fed and will feed many successful commissions.
